Rising
What many people aren't aware of is that Gaudí worked on many projects over his lifetime that were left unfinished, including his famed, Sagrada Familia.
Unfamiliar with the canopy above Christ, that appears to be a common feature in Spanish Catholic Churches, I did a bit of research.
Above the alter hangs the cross of Christ and above, on the vault, there is a representation of the Eternal Father, the baldachin (canopy) between the two takes on the symbolic role of representing the Holy Spirit, thus completing the representation of the Trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
This is why the canopy is heptagonal, representing the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord. The polygon is placed with one point facing the centre of the crossing, rising slightly in that direction. This central point is inscribed with the letters INRI, an unequivocal reference to Jesus Christ on the cross just below. The fabric canopy is gold and ochre tones, accentuating the radial, radiant meaning, and is covered in gold stars.
