The Cottages of Bunratty
We jumped a train out of Dublin to head west and made a stop outside of Limerick to visit Bunratty Castle. I was expecting this really grand and opulent castle, but Bunratty was built around 1425 and it's sort of the Motel 6 of castles. It's your basic stone medieval castle that was used as a fortress to fend off other families battling over power, land and castles. A real life Family Feud as it were. In any case, the cottages around the castle during this time of year are very pretty with the Fall colors.
