Derek Walcott Square
Castries, the capital of Saint Lucia is a beautiful island. While it tends to be a tourist destination for many cruise ships, we happened to be there on a relatively quiet day.
I think we must have walked at least 10-12 miles that day taking in the sites. This shot was taken in Derek Walcott Square Park also known as Old Tree Park for obvious reasons. This tree is quite amazing and absolutely huge. If you look at the size of the trunk in comparison to the Gazebo, you can get an idea of just how big it is. I briefly considered dropping my gear and making an attempt to climb this monster, as I climbed a lot of trees as a kid. Fortunately, it was a very brief moment of consideration and after this shot we quickly moved on before I got any other bright ideas.
