Sunrise at Hillsboro Inlet
One of my friends called me up late at night and suggested I meet him up in Hillsboro for some sunrise shots. It's only 45 minutes away and sounded like fun, so we made arrangements to meet there fairly early. I have to admit, there are times I wish I lived on the west coast because 4:00 am alarms just aren't much fun.
We both arrived while it was dark and grabbed our gear and headed out. It's always a bit of a process getting things set up and I always take a few test shots to make sure everything is working properly. It was right about then that he realized that his camera battery was dead. No problem he says, let me switch to the other battery that turned out to be dead as well. Despite both of us shooting Nikon, and having two extra batteries in my backpack, they just weren't compatible. In the end, he was able to take 4 or 5 photographs and we spent most of the time just hanging out and talking.
We've since made a few return visits with lots of batteries.
