Sunrise at Dania Pier
Dania Beach is just north of Hollywood Beach and it's not quite as touristy. Of course it doesn't have the grand resort hotels, but it's a quaint little beach and mainly serves the locals. It's a great place to find a quiet spot on the beach and enjoy a morning sunrise.
Something interesting about Dania Beach is that it's got a large berm in addition to a rope fence all along the backside of the beach that makes it rather difficult to cross. Of course, I could walk the 500 or so feet to an open pathway, but I'm a rebel and like to live on the edge, so to speak. While it's usually not an issue, arriving before sunrise in total darkness can present a bit of a challenge. I've had a few mishaps and even managed to roll a Nikon FX lens down the embankment. Some lessons are learned the hard way ... I now take the long way around.
